Progress as of 10/10/05

September 6th our committee, left over from last winters service, met at the Somesville Union Meeting House. Michael Shook, Joanna Herrick, Ursula Heiniger, and missing Terri Lanpher.

It was decided I would modify and update the letter sent to clergy last year to notify them of planning for 2006 service. The service will be January 22, 2006 with storm date of January 29.

A notice for bulletin was also sent to churches a week after the letter. On September 22nd, a Thursday, we met at home of Joanna Herrick on Norway Drive.

Looking at the list of churches we talked about who would contact whom to increase our committee membership. Michael would talk with David Lucey, and a member of First Baptist- Ann Damm, Wayne Buchanan, Blake Brown and Tom Crikelar of Acadia Friends. He would also contact Tom Ewell - Maine Council of Churches as possible speaker as well as Bill Imes of Bangor Theological Seminary, and Ann Johnston.

I was to contact Gail Leiser of St. Saviour’s and Maria & Lee Hemminger of Assembly of God church in Town Hill,, as well as Mac Bigelow. Gail Leiser told me of Rachel Sharp and Carmen Greene. Phone calls and a note/reply to from Jenny Reece and we have Carmen Greene.

While at the Annual Mtg of Maine Conference UCC, Sept. 23-25, I talked with Kathy Woodside of Bar Harbor Congregational. Now Kathy and Carmen will join our committee. Welcome aboard!

While at the Conference meeting I also talked with Bill Imes to ask if he would be our speaker for the service, saying we were still looking at possibilities. He said he’d be glad to. Michael had left phone msg. for him and I said I might see him in person at the Conference meeting.

At the Sept 22 mtg we decided to meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, 7:10 ish pm, allowing anyone with Thursday evening choir rehearsal to still be with us. I work until 7pm and can get to Joanna’s in less than 10 minutes.
